Airbus Netherlands B.V. is looking for a Design Engineer to join our Design&Analysis Team based in Leiden, The Netherlands.

Airbus Netherlands designs and builds structures for the launchers used to lift-off satellites into space. These structures must be lightweight but still capable of carrying heavy and complex loads. You will be part of a team that supports mainly the design of complex structures of Ariane 6 European launchers. Duties include designing via CAD the space products, considering the requirements of our customers which always differ from one mission to another. This to be performed in close collaboration with Lead and Systems Engineers, our expert mechanical and thermal engineering team, the Material&Process department and our experienced Assembly&Integration Team.

Your challenges:

* CAD design of Airbus Netherlands B.V. space products, and in particular the ones related to complex structures of Ariane 6 future European launcher. This from the preliminary design to the final production definitions. 

* Develop both CATIA CAD 3D models using CATIA V5, as well as product definitions which are used for manufacturing of parts/assemblies. Definitions will be model based (i.e. 3D annotated).

* Design structure components and assemblies that are optimized in terms of weight, cost, performance, production / assembly requirements while highest safety of the Product is assured using appropriate Design tools. 

* Liaise with Mechanical and Thermal engineering team, and other appropriate Airbus departments to come up with optimum design solutions.

* Participate and/or provide technical support during Design Reviews 

* Select materials and processes appropriate to each design element, in close collaboration with our Materials & Processes Engineering Team. 

* Ensure that final design allows successful integration of each design element with the product as a whole.

* Potentially define and develop drawings needed for Interface Control Documents in close collaboration with Senior Design Engineer, Lead Engineer / Systems Engineer, and once needed, interacting with customers and technical third parties involved along the process. 

* Accept broad objectives with agreed deadlines, but establish the tasks required and how they should be completed. 

 Your boarding pass:

* Master Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace) with a strong curriculum emphasis on design engineering activities.

* Minimum 5 years of experience as design engineer, preferably in the aerospace sector. 

* Minimum 5 years of experience using CATIA V5, within the last 10 years. 

* Capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment both independently and collectively.

* Nice to have is knowledge of classical and numerical (Finite Element) stress analysis methods, and having background knowledge also on classical mechanical and thermal aspects to be considered during design phase of space products.

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, & PowerPoint) and Google Suite (GMail, Docs, Sheets, Slides) required.

* Team player with a positive & collaborative attitude.

* Good interpersonal skills, flexibility and adaptability.

* Demonstrated a high level of problem-solving ability.

* Must be able to communication effectively in English (verbal and written)

* Conversational in Dutch is a plus, but not required.
